Well i had fun today in the studio, and managed to complete 6 of the 10 cards for my Card Swap. But I can't share them till the swappees get their cards.

RAKS, Works in progress and Completed Projects

Well, I received this wonderful RAK in the mail today....from KYLIE - this is just so me all that red,Black and White...this was from our FAIRY WISHING over at Forever Always. Thanks so much Kylie, it's your turn to wish, i hope there is a kind Fairy Circling...for you too!!!

Next in this post, is the completed projects....well i never did get around to posting the finished picture of my Quilt, that i got completed before my Quilt RETREAT....

Here it is...not the best photo....but i have used it in the background of all these photos...so you can see more details....I loved working on this one by Leanne Beasley - it has taken 2 years to complete...but I loved working on the stitcheries, and well life got busy in those years...as really it shouldn't have taken so long...it is machine pieced but hand quilted and bound. I love this Quilt.!!!

Another completed project and this is the complete set from the Gail Pan Pattern we received at our Quilt RETREAT earlier this month in Nowra. I love the pin cushion and funnily enough i didn't have one...that was just mine...so it is being used...well. the bag is in use as well...I don't have a use personally for the needle keeper....so this will be going into my pile of goodies for Christmas Gifts. (I did add the button closure to this project as i felt it needed it!!

I have had back pain now for almost a month and the last week it seems to be getting to me, so i haven't been doing as much as i wanted....But I have managed to finish breaking dawn by Stephanie Meyer...loved that book.

And i have also been doing a little stitchery, here is the block i am working on at the moment, this is a quilt inspired by one that i saw whilst i was away, and I am putting some of the little stitcheries i have collected around the place into it...

I love its quilt as you go style...as you can see i have already started putting the blocks together. And what is even more gratifying, is that is all by hand!!!

just a few goodies i whipped up today.....amongst the other chores that i had to do....loads of new stock went up here.

oh and I signed up for a blog giveaway here for some amazing Moda Fabric....fingers crossed I am lucky, and by putting the link here I earned 5 more tickets...whoohoo....so share the love and share the giveaway too...don't you love blog land and giveaways....well must be time for me to do one too...

I am so into making hexagons after my trip to the craft fair yesterday, and i managed to get my templates...that you can quilt as you go type quilt...I have been designing my own blocks from bigger stitcheries and little patterns I have found...so I may make a little hanger as a give away....

so leave me a comment to go in the draw....might run it for a couple of weeks to see how it goes...gotta get the prize made too!!

Lots has happened since Friday....

well fist of all...I got an email from ChookyBlue to let me know that i have been accepted in her SSCS {secret santa christmas swap} - This is so exciting....I have already completed one gift for my secret partner.....and I am off to the stitches and Craft fair this week...so am bound to pick up something else along the way. - will share some photos of this later inthe week

I have scrapped a lot...here are the cards and pages i have done...

I have also signed up for another pay it forward...yes Leah i still have a few months to complete your last one...and the machine is now out and on the table...so it will be in your hands soon...

Back to the pay it forward....with blogging...comes blog surfing...and I have been browsing lots of sites connected to chookyblues swap...when i found Lailas blog....and i can't resist the pay it foward....so here is how it works...It’s based of the concept of the movie "Pay it Forward" where acts or deeds of kindness are done without expecting something in return, just passing it on, with hope that the recipients of the acts of kindness are passed on. So here’s how it works. I will make and send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment to this post on the blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I do not know what that gift will be yet, and it won’t be sent this month, probably not next month, but it will be sent (within 6 months) and that’s a promise! My back has been really sore since going on retreat in Nowra...not sure if it was all the stitching or the beds....but It meant a visit to the chiro...which in turn meant a second visit, you know how it goes...twice weekly visits..LOL well today was the second visit...Bianca had to go to...so she decided to play hookey....yep i offered to drive her into Uni...but nope, she wanted to go to the movies...so we did...we went and saw The Dark Night....it was fantastic...it was nice to just play hookie...and have fun with my Darling Daughter...

Oh well time is getting away with me....i should be cooking dinner and then i have to upload this new stock...best get too it.

another layout

Well i was busting at the bit to scrap the last few days, the back is still aching, but i got in and scrapped.....with a new box of stock arriving it was hard not too...lots of yummy things going up on the online store over the weekend.

This was the FA RAK and new Challenge which closes at Midnight tonight...and i am really loving this layout.
thought i would show you a close up of the cluster of embellishments, as that was the criteria to include at least 7 different embellies.
then i have a new photo of the finished layout from last night...with its alpha stickers.

scrapping and fun stuff

Finally got to some scrapping today....this first layout is for the 123 August Challenge I have had fun with this layout...and created some paper tole stars...it is more dimensional, than this photo shows...

This next one was for Forever Always Recipe Scrap - tonight was Pot Luck Night....it was lots of fun, and had us scrapping with speed...this was finished in about 40mins...it needs to have the rest of the title added but it was too cold to go outside to the studio.I finally got around to playing this game the other day...and decided to post tonight....its a bit of fun...
I have been making some flicker mosaics for inspiration, in the newsletter lately...and came accross this game....just loved my mosaic...hope you have a go too...comment and let me know if you do...it is just a little bit of fun.

Wow, how spoilt, refreshed and relaxed do I feel. It was amazing to head off on a retreat and just relax, and be on the otherside of the fence.

Kim from Jukejema Quilting Barn in Nowra, organised a fantastic weekend at the Waterslea Conference Centre just 20 minutes south of Berry a two and a half. hour drive from Sydney. For her first ever retreat, Kim did a fantastic Job...i was very impressed and felt for her on Sunday when she lost her voice...as i know the stress, and workload organising such an event.

Who wouldn't be relaxed when the view you woke up to was this...this first pic was taken at 7.20am on Saturday morning from our room doorway.....just stunning and weather was fantastic...that really winter chill, but the sun was glorious.

This is the view from the balcony outside the dinning room....it was just so peaceful.

And these were the stairs to the pool, or just to another amazing view of some awesome trees....

The tutors for our weekend, Leanne Beasley, Gail Pan, Rosalie Quinlan and Viv Robinson. We had these projects and patterns in our goodie bags....lots of work to achieve....

Leanne's project was an apron, with three different designed pockets....this was the one i loved...but i think it is too much work for an apron, myself...so i will be making it into a framed stitchery, or pillow i think.

Gail Pan's project was this sewing combo...project bag, needle case, pin cushion and scissor keep.....I loved this project, and the different way Gail has filled in her hearts rather than satin stitch but a varied back stitch...

Rosalie Quinlins project was this trio - buttonhole appliqued pillow, stitchery stockings, and needle punch framed work...the needlepunch was something tricky to learn, so i got in and gave it ago...I think i need to persevere with it, as it really didn't grab me...but i got it started.

Viv's sitchery sampler, is just divine even if it is huge....i can't wait to work on it.

So as you can see there was no hope in hell to complete them all, but i felt good at what i did achieve, and that was tracing off and backing all the stitcheries with their iron on webbings. Giving the needlepunch a go....and sitting back and completing my scissor keep, the pin cushion stitchery work, and starting on the stichery for the needle case.....so i have lots of UFO's on the go....and nothing nicer than sitting back and doing a little stitching.

I did all this with my girlfriend, we had such a blast, and laughed lots - just enjoying the total girly time. - this is the larger group photo of us all before we headed home.....

home - what's that....lol my girlfriend and i had decided we would treat ourselves to an extra day....and enjoy the shopping...so we booked ourselves into the Berry Village Boutique Motel on Sunday evening, so that we could do a little Retail Therapy before heading home...yes that dreaded four letter word.

Well after the coldest afternoon ever, we had a stroll into town and enjoyed a fantastic meal at the Thai Berry restaurant, before walking back to our room, for a nice glass of red, a bit of stitching, yes we did some more, whilst watching CSI, before snuggling down to bed, and waking at a liesurly pace, and then strolling through and shopping till we had to leave.....and look at all these goodies.

Tins, sewing notions, signs, candles sticks, handbags, oh and don't forget all that fabric....and yes i even got some Anna Griffin Fabric....oh so yummy. Oh and i just loved this Apples sign....

Oh and then the laugh and pose outside the IGA supermarket with the plastic Cow...made our day complete...

An awesome girly weekend,.....can't wait till i get to do it all again next year...hope Kim keeps organises another next year.

RECIPE SCRAP AT FOREVER ALWAYS

This week we are offering a special RAK to one lucky participant. So to be in the running for a little surprise packet join in the chatter from 7.30pm and complete your layout based on my recipe this Thursday 7/8/08. (and for anyone worried about my Kye's white spaces I promise there is next to none on this layout!!)

Ingredients :
Photo - 5" x 7" landscape (or you might want to use 2 smaller portrait photos)
2 x Patterned Papers (one light pp with only a soft - if any- pattern)
or
1 x PP plus 1 x CS 1 piece scrap c/s 9 cm x 5cm
Title - chipboard alphas plus small stickers - or similar

Embellishments -
2 x Chipboard Hearts (approx 9cm and 5 cm)
1x Chipboard Circle (approx 4 1/2 cm) I have used a HS clock
12 x small / medium flowers (3 diff colours in 3 diff sizes) If you haven't got 12 - then 4 flowers will work
Ribbon (approx 27cm)

Other optional extras
Rub-ons or acrylic stamp flourishes / swirly flower stems or pen to doodle
Ink or paint or extra scrap pp for chipboard embellies
Rub-on border pattern
Stapler

Don't forget you can substitute embellies to suit.

Holidays Catch up. - big photo post

Well, it feels like I have been celebrating for a month.... ..straight from my party we headed off on a holiday...had a great time...and will post a few pics here...

First photo is of my Pandora Bracelet..forgot to post a pic...

Our holiday was spent just chilling, this is a photo of us doing some colouring, note the lack of Brian in this shot, apart from him taking the photo, as he walked out from his afternoon nap....he had the most horrid cold the whole time we were away...so spent all afternoons asleep bar one...

Next up is our jigsaw puzzle...well this is all we manage to complete of it, the lighting in our appartment was very dark,and the puzzle is very blurry....only looking back at the photos did i realise that it is glasses on napkins...it is a murder mystery puzzle...so we don't have a picture....so I will be dragging it out to do again....another rainy day. We drove around and spied this pier...so I made us all get out in the cold, and walk along it.....this next one is the grumpies...who were freezing...

Something about holidays and eating out....and spoiling each other...here is some family poses at the Nelson Bay Marina Hogs Breath Cafe....

Dylan is one of the hardest to catch, without a fake smile...Then comes Bianca, just love the cheeky look...yes we passed the camera around...so here are some photos of me...yep mid sentence..the mum in me telling her how to take the photo....LOL she often does a better job than me...so i should learn to keep my trap shut....Brian being mr suave...not!!!

Next is our dessert for four....yep that is 6 scoops of icecream, on top of a wedge of mudcake, hot chocolate sauce, then whipped cream, strawberry topping and marshmallows...oh and those biscuits. And no we didn't manage to get thru it all.

This is the only Whale we got to see, as the high seas kept on causing the cruises to be cancelled....but we did catch this Mother and baby...well that's what we think it was, from the shore....they were swimming close and one fin was definately smaller than the other...One of my awesome gifts...was a voucher to the Point restaurant on the Soldiers Point Marina....fantastic ....this is the oh no not so sunset....but well the atmosphere was awesome....and the time spent yes....from 4.30 till 9pm just the two of us...very pleasurable...and a record for us in a restaurant...well at least since pre children days...and this is our dinner...yep we splashed out and had the seafood banquet....oh we were stuffed...there is a lobster...2 crabs, prawns, oysters, scallops, calamari, and fish.....yep and loads of fruit...so yummy but oh so filling.The Staff there were just amazing, and we felt so spoilt....little plug if you happen to be up that way...make the time to sit and sip and watch the sunset...and if you happen to be there for a special celebration....and they find out...your bound to be treated to this little fudge treat....made me feel special.

And this is my Son...the reader, the bookworm - yep 5 hours on the drive home and this is all we got...the book in our faces if we tried to communicate...on our little detour - further up the coast to hawks nest for a check it out for the next holiday ...some photos of a pelican he had his eye on us....Brian and bianca got out in the rain to get up close and take some pictures....

I came home to find this wonderful bundle of ribbons on my doorstep from the wonderful Fiona Carter and Ribbons Galore....after Amie was wonderful and granted me a gift voucher for my birthday...aren't they just yummy...I so love the black, white and red circles...oh and the cupcakes are just divine.

That's it for the my photos....last night i went to see Cirque Du Soleil - Dralion...just an amazing sight to see...if you can manage it make the effort and the expense is in your budget....you have to go see it, the cosutmes were just amazing and the soundtrack, just had to be purchased - yup i got it, and played it quite a few times, once going to bed last night and then again today up loud whilst i walked on the treadmill...then on and off when i have been on the laptop today.....Have to say thankyou to my very special Girl...who shouted me out for dinner..last night talk about spoilt. I guess my birthday is now over...and i feel very special indeed...if this is what being 40 is about then i am happy to be here...

oh before i go just had to share some net pics from lastnight show....a few of my highlights........This girl, was just stunning, and her costume was oh so colourful...This young girl just amazing, what she did on this pole...

This balancing act....yep they are balls and they are bouncing on them and landing....it was spectacular...oh those dragon type dogs...were just hilarious...and yep they did some amazing balancing on the balls too...

These guys i think were like an aborigianl part...and just amazing...yes that is three seperate rings and three people jumping thru them.... and this last photo....yes that formation is mid jump of a skipping rope....yep skipping....

oh if you haven't got it....i was soo impressed.

Some Birthday Photos

My Birthday started wtih French toast with berries and yoghurt, cooked by My darling daughter Bianca...it was yummy but oh so filling.

After picking up this parcel at the airport....oh what a surprise. And oh so special, to spend some special time with my soul sista....thanks for coming Ange....LOVE YOU. And a extra special thankyou for spoiling me too!!! A great day was spent shopping and lunching with My family, I have yet to photograph all the lovely gifts I recieved. I came home to these amazing Happy mail parcels....thanks Amie...Love this handmade journal. And Teina....loved these special items too....can't wait to use this on the cover of the birthday book i will make to add the special presents I got from the special girls over at FA.

We had a hilarious night playing with a magnetic nose ring....Sorry can't share the photos.....still makes me laugh just looking at them though.

Sunday's Cybercrop Challenge # 4 – Pattern Instructions

Another name but the same challenge….I hope you enjoy me in creating another layout, filled with sewing, fabric and notions.

For this challenge you will need:

Photos

1 x 5x7 landscape

2 x 3½ x3½

Supplies

1 sheet of cardstock

3 x 12 inch Patterned paper

5-10 pieces of Assorted Ribbons

9 inches in length.

4 ½ inch ring of contrasting Cardstock – this is a 4 ½ inch circle with a 4 inch circle cut from the centre leaving you with a ring.

5 inch square piece of fabric

Dotto Adhesive runner

Double sided Tape

Tiny Alpha Stickers

Chipboard alphas

Felt Butterflies – or embellishment to suit your layout

Bling

Kindy glitz

Tools

Compass

At least a 6 inch piece of sandpaper

Fabric Scissors – yes they need to be very sharp to cut the fabric and not fray the edge.

Creative Update

Well time for a catch up.....still haven't stuck down the Monthly Sketch Challenge. But I have had a huge few days.

Saturday is upload day for the FAFF challenge, and well I left it to the last minute, don't get me wrong, i had been planing and plotting in my head, but just hadn't got anything done. As well as being Mum's birthday party day, and having to do the cake and the thankyous.(these we did earlier in the week)....so I started with the scrapping first.

Completed this one of Brian, then moved onto Dylan

Before tackling the one of Bianca. I so love working with my signature colours - and if you feel like the challenge pop over and share with me in the FA Gallery - this months colour combo is my signature colours. When i had almost finished these pages the disaster struck of the cake for Mum's party sticking to the tin....but all was mended and a few more dramas unfolded before Mum celebarted with style her Sensational 60's Event.....love these photos...

After taking the whole of Sunday to recover from the Party. I got into creating on Monday...the top 50 Cybercrop Challenges.

Challenge 1 - red white and blue colour scheme and must include at least 12 stitches.

Challenge 2 - the sketch Challenge

Challenge 3 - Wet or Dry Embossing and include at least 50 words of journaling. on to today's list of to do's

well i am almost done with my plans for the cybercrop....and then i plan to scrap...

You will need the following:

Photos

1 portrait photo 13x18cm (5"x7")approx
1 landscape photo 9x12cm (3.5"x4.5")approx

Papers

2 x matching pieces of cardstock
4 x coordinating pattern paper*

Embellishments

An assortment of small & large brads* (approx 50 small - can use less !)
5 x circles* in assorted sizes (largest diameter of 6cm) - these can be stamps, chipboard, homemade, whatever !!!
2 x arrows (no longer than 6cm) - these can also be stamps, chipboard, homemade, whatever !!!
Assorted rubons to suit your page.

Tools

3D Foam tape (not essential, but helpful !)
Pen Paper piercer

Substitutions

You may wish to substitute the circle and arrow embellishments for flowers, if doing a feminine LO. My recipe this week is a boy based LO.
You may wish to substitute the brads for bling, if doing a feminine LO.
You may use scraps / leftovers for the 4 x pp. But you will need at least 6x12 pieces of each.
You may wish to use more than 2 photos, and only 2 x pp. In this case, you will need an additional 4 photos. These should measure: 2 portrait photos 8x15cm (3.5"x 6") approx 2 square photos 7.5 x 7.5cm (3" x 3") approx.

OK, creative update, Last Tuesday baby Daisy was born, so i got straight in and stitched this little name plaque, it is in a 6inch embroidery hoop, and hangs from the ribbon. When i finished stitching I managed to whip up this card for my sisters Birthday - which was Wednesday - we went out and had a great family shopping and lunch.

Thursday I got back in the Studio and was joined by Anne and Janet, and we all got in and did some cards. This first one, I played with my Glimmer Mist wow what an effect, I have sprayed it on too raw chipboard, that's the glimmer you can see, then I stamped a butterfly and spritzed it too!! Kye's Recipe Scrap came next, I am really loving these nights of just chatting and scrapping. Love these photos of my little man. Next up I played for a bit and completed the RAK and New Challenge this was Paulas criteria

1. Use an old embellishment that you have
had in your stash, ideally over a year...got a lot of this myself!
2. Use only scraps, other than your base
cardstock.
3. Use stamps...cause I love them!
4. Use staples.

I have been happily joining the girls in the forum working on our FAFF albums...this is my page for Sharryn's Challenge We had to complete a page about out extended Family....well the design girls are my cyber sisters...love this page and it's sentiment is very special to me. As part of our Challenge we had to include hidden journaling and also use a transparency, so i combined them both and used the BasicGrey Magnets the transparency just clicks onto the page to hide my journaling.

well that's all i can share at the moment...we have another challenge over at FA - the Sonia' says challenge, I have completed my page but will have to wait a few weeks to share, depending on the other girls in our round.

I have just cut and placed the Monthly sketch page inspired by Paula this month, just have to stick it all down, but think i want to ponder it a little longer...it needs something.!!!

Hi girls Just a little reminder....Recipe Scrap with Kylene Hickey tomorrow Night.

Don't forget that any of the "ingredients" can be changed to suit your own tastes and supplies.

And for all our newbies (and lurkers) don't be shy - jump right in and join in the fun.

You will need

Photos - (this is the hardest part!!) I have used 4x 5" x 3" portait plus 1x 5" x 4" portrait You may choose to use 2x 4" x 6" landscape plus 1 portrait or 5x4" x 6" portrait or even a panoramic shot 5" x 12" plus 1 portrait. You might even want to substitute a photo (or 2) for journalling or PP. 2 x cardstock (or 1 c/s plus 1 pp)
1 large and 1 small flower (or whatever embellishment you like)
1 brad
4 buttons Title
med size alpha's (I have used thickers)
Pen for journalling
Optional extras might include paint or ink / embroidery thread.

First project up, is my mini album project that i am working on as part of the FAFF Challenge {Forever Always Forever Family Project}. I have used an accordian Spine as my special feature on my project.with a couple of details shots showing this...and my step by step

This is challenge 4 for the 123 cybercrop...not my comfort zone...but well another layout done. Scraps from my stash, 8 photos One colour - Red with a little white and blackbubblewrap, ribbonand hand written title and journaling.Not sure if i like it yet....bit out of my comfort zone...but another one for the older album.
